Natalie & I were recently invited to a friends house for dinner.
They are new friends to us and so it was a great opportunity for us to get to know them better and vice versa.
We turned up at the house and the smell of Thai Curry made it a pure joy to be there.
When it came to eating, I made the most of enjoying my curry, despite a bit of pain from an inconvenient wisdom tooth!
But upon tucking into the delicious curry, I believe I achieved something that’s never been accomplished before.
I chipped my tooth……ON A PRAWN CRACKER!!!
The food was great. The conversation was enjoyable and their hospitality was faultless, but the prawn cracker caused me issues. It was the prawn cracker of doom. It caused me trouble for several days following.
Sometimes, we get so bothered about the small, irritating difficulties and disappointments in life that we let it affect everything else. I’m not talking about the major issues but the minor ones. The issues that others tell us not to worry about, yet we can’t help it. Our small problems so often become big issues and tower over the goodness in our lives.
I think it’s time to see the bigger picture. Look past the minor struggles, the concerns & disappointments and look to the God above it all. He’s in control and has it sorted.
Jesus endured all these things and worse – yet he came to show us how life could be lived.
I want to live life fully. I want to embrace all that God has planned for me. I want to grow in character, dream bigger dreams and catch the vision for God’s exciting plan.
But if that is to happen, its time to focus on how big he is in comparison to the small issues and difficulties of life.
