There are few things that my wife likes more than owls and cushions.
On arrival home the other evening, Natalie had purchased yet more cushions, of which she was a tad over excited about, in my opinion.
She invited me into the living room to see her purchases. and as I opened the door, I discovered that our house was soon to be a soft play area!
So many cushions! Far too many! Obsessive! Her reasoning was that they look nice and they were comfy which was true, except there was hardly any space to actually sit on the sofa.
You know, Jesus made an invitation for those who perhaps need a few extra cushions! He said, ‘Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest’ (Matthew 11:28)
Sometimes life gets a bit too busy. We get overloaded. Life stops being enjoyable.
In a world where work never stops, we need to re-learn the value of rest.
Jesus offers to carry the load. Hand your baggage over to him and enjoy the place of rest that he creates for you.
If this blog speaks to you – Respond to his invitation with a simple prayer today;
‘Father God – Come take the burdens and the baggage, and help me discover the place of rest with you’.
When you’ve said the prayer – find some time to simply sit and be aware of God’s presence.
