This new year has seen me form a different relationship. A relationship with a gym.
Once we were strangers,
then we were distant pen pals,
then flirtatious friends….
And now, I’m spending money….!
I arrive at just gone 8am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. I like this time because I seem to bring the average age down by about 10 years if not more.
The smell of sweat wafts past my nose as my ears are awakened by the beats of the music. Though, as I ran the cross trainer on Monday, I didn’t appreciate hearing One Direction singing the lyrics;
‘And I’m like (ow!) never thought it’d hurt so bad,
Gettin’ over you-ooh,
And (ow!) you’re givin’ me a heart attack’
Whilst I have no plans to be Mr Michelin or Frank Bruno with muscles in places that I don’t have places, I am keen to stay physically fit.
I don’t have a personal trainer – I couldn’t cope with an incredible hulk impersonator giving me orders, but I do have a fitness plan that I am following.
However, it’s not just my physical fitness I’m working on. In order to live life to the full, I believe we need to be Spiritually fit.
I challenge you to invite God to be your personal trainer. God wants to help you achieve results. He wants to give you an abundant, overflowing, joyful life. He wants to give you the desires of your heart. He wants to share with you the plans he has for you and celebrate with you when you reach the end.
