A letter to all ‘directioners’

Dear ‘Directioners’,

I write to you with respect for One Direction. I must admit that I can’t help but like some of their music and they appear to be quite friendly lads.

However, may I just point out a few things;

– It is highly unlikely that you will ever date Harry Styles. Whilst it’s been made quite clear that Taylor Swift and him will ‘never, ever, ever get back together’, that does not mean you will take her place. Get over it.

– Despite the countless love songs they sing, the topless images, the impressive tattoos or whether they follow you on twitter. Fact is, they don’t know you. Sorry to break the news. They have much better things to do than read your obsessive posts about them and refuse yet another marriage proposal from a 12 year old.

– I fully believe in charity but when the shoes worn by Harry Styles sell for £720+ it makes me wonder how intelligent the buyer is. After all, the shoes don’t come with his feet. The only bit of Harry in those shoes is a little bit of sweat…and perhaps some mould depending on how clean he is.

But here’s the big one – One day, they will have gone so far in one direction that they will topple off the ends of the earth and we won’t hear of them again. All those little things will be forgotten about and we’ll all go crazy, crazy, crazy till

we see the sun. They can only go one way, or another… Sad but true folks…

There’s nothing wrong with appreciating the skills and talents of others, but let’s remember that they are humans too. They smell, they burp, they mess up, just like me and you.

If we want to know someone greater, someone higher, someone more powerful and yet, someone who is interested in knowing you personally, then look to Jesus. For he is worth knowing.

    I was talking with my year 11 class just today about the role models they choose. Sigh.
