I’d been booked to do a ‘community outreach event’ in Kent. Probably best not to say where exactly. In truth, I’ve tried to block it out.

I was asked to bring a support act, and so I put a call out in the Chortle comedy forum for interested parties. A young Australian lad who told me he’d supported John Bishop and won an award seemed like a suitable choice. Like most Australians, he was now living in South-west London, working in a bar and making everything he said sound like a question.
