The cost of baubles

So this weekend, myself and my wife, Natalie purchased our first Christmas tree (a real one) and Christmas treedecorations. This was something that myself and my bank manager had yet to experience….
I never knew just how much a bauble costs! And it’s something our cat needs to learn about too!
Some are silver, some are gold, some even have glitter but the fact is, it’s a bauble. It has no other use than to hang on a tree and look pretty. Would you buy a leaf for £3.99?

So what did it cost for me to decorate the house this Christmas – More than I expected! None the less, it looks lovely.

But as we consider Jesus being born, let’s not forget the purpose of him coming to Earth.

The cost for me to have a friendship with a perfect God was much greater than purchasing baubles. Jesus came to pay the price through death on a cross, so that the garbage in our lives wouldn’t stand in the way of us connecting with a Holy and perfect God.

Can I encourage you this year to see Christmas not simply as a story or a tradition – but as a personal gift that has been purchased for you, with your name on it. A gift that lasts forever. The gift of life in its fullest through Jesus Christ.

Take time to reflect on this blog, Baubles glitter but Jesus still shines with an intensity that cannot be compared and if you grieve this Christmas, let His love shine into you for He is real.
