I am well aware that we all hate bad weather, especially when it causes schools to close, soggy socks & ruined hairstyles. I hear that One Direction have cancelled gigs so they can order new waterproof hairspray.
However I have come up with a solution. Forget the hairspray – Here are 3 games to play on a wet day. You only need yourself and a few props.
1) Buy about 500 toy cats and dogs, go to the highest window in your house, open it and throw them all out at once as people walk past. The look on their faces will be hilarious. (Disclaimer: Ensure the cats and dogs are toys / teddies. Throwing 500 real cats and dogs at once could be problematic)
2) If it’s a very cold day. Get a large bucket and fill it with 1000 ice cubes. Do the same as above. They’ll be shocked at this Jumbo Hail. This will be a Kodak moment. (Disclaimer: Be careful that the ice cubes don’t touch anyone, they might melt.)
3) On a very cold day. Buy a clothed, child sized, mannequin and freeze it over so it’s contained in a block of ice. Stick it in your front garden and scream ‘What has happened to little harry!’ – See what response you get. (Disclaimer: Be sure to use a Mannequin. No further comment.)
So there you have it. 3 fun games for a wet day.
Talking of wet days and fun things to do, there is a story told in the bible of a guy called Noah whom God told to build an ark (large boat). There was a flood coming (much bigger than what we’ve ever seen) that would wipe out everything that was evil. Noah was a good man and a friend of God and so God told him to build an ark and he invited 2 of each furry friends (animals) to join him.
And so Noah built the ark. The exact measurements can be found in the bible if you are the geeky type. In fact, the ark has been re-built by a Dutch man according to the exact measurements given. (Bit sad I know, but ‘whatever floats your boat’ … See what I did there….?!)
But here’s the message of Noah. God promised that he would never send a flood like that again. (And note, he hasn’t – our floods are minor in comparison – we’ve never needed a boat as big as this to sail down to Tesco’s)
God keeps his promises.
God has promised you a new life, a life of purpose, meaning and hope. He’s got tasks and jobs ready for you to take hold of. But first, he requires your attention and your friendship.
I discovered this a few years back and it’s a decision I have never regretted.
So here’s another thing to do on a wet day – Seek God and discover the promises he has for you. You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain.
