Behind every good man….

So after the The Church of England’s decision to not allow female bishops was made yesterday, I thought today’s blog should be on women and I’ve tried to make it light hearted but not offensive in any way!   ♯bloggingcarefully

Now let’s be clear from the beginning, I’m no expert on the topic of ‘understanding women’ but read on and you might find a glimpse of encouragement!

Though, I say I’m no expert, I’ve been married for almost 4 months now and I’ve learnt at least 4 things;

For example;

– My understanding of ‘a mess’ is quite extreme compared to hers.
– I soon realised that my idea of trash TV was an understatement, but I’ve come to love it. (See previous blog)
– Bringing Tea & Toast up to her in the morning seems to get me in her good books!  – Even if the only verbal affirmation I get at 7 o’clock is a mildly-feminine grunt.
– Cushions on the sofa have a set order of display.

All of these differences and characteristics of my wife (and perhaps your female friends / relations) make me smile.

I believe that women are incredible and have just as many skills and gifts to offer as men do. They were created by the same awesome God that men were. They have exactly the same credibility, value and worth.

I believe women have essential roles to play in society, in business and in the church.

So why didn’t God sort this out in the Church of England yesterday?

Because he’s given us the perfect example of Jesus’ life, he’s given us a brain to think and he’s given us the freedom to make decisions.

Sadly, we don’t always use all 3 correctly.

Nonetheless, the Church of England belongs to a loving God – He’ll sort this out in his perfect timing. Meanwhile, let us be assured that he values you regardless of your gender and he has a plan for your life. After all, he created both of us, male and female.

Now, I’m off to put the cushions back as they should be before the wife returns…    (Notice the female leadership in this house 🙂 )
