I am starting a new campaign on twitter. It started as a bit of a joke when I tweeted a few celebrities to see which ones would respond. I simply said ‘Hello’ and created the hashtag – ♯whowillsayhelloback
So far, I’ve had replies from the following well known tweeters;
- Charlie Green from Britain’s Got Talent 2008
- Jimmy Cricket – Irish Comedian
- Ray Tizzard – Joe Pasquale’s Twin Brother in his act (joke)
- Sam and Mark – Were pop stars, now Kids TV presenters (Sam Responded)
OK, I may have cheated in that I know Charlie Green, having gigged with him shortly after his appearance on BGT and kept in touch a little. I’ve also appeared on the TV show, ‘Level up’ which was hosted by Sam & Mark, though I’m not sure Sam remembers…
Now, I did a degree in ‘Youth & Community work and applied theology’ and I can confidently say that this is my qualified, professional way of developing ‘Community Cohesion’ (Ha!), bringing together the twitter community and trying to blur celebrity culture with the rest of us!
Ok, it’s actually just a bit of fun but I think a healthy bit of online community work is not to be ignored. 🙂
Twitter is fascinating in the way that it brings people together. Whilst in this day and age, the term ‘follow’ might imply an uncomfortable feeling of stalking, it does suggest that we should be in regular contact.
Whilst I might get a tad excited when a celebrity responds with a ‘Hello’ tweet, they are simply human beings. It’s so much more exciting to know that God acknowledges me as an individual.
Understand that God acknowledges you for who you are and he values you. He invites you to ‘follow him’ and gain life in all it’s fullness.
