Adventerous Faith – Why I’m a Christian.

I just wanted to take a blog post to share what it is that draws me to being a ‘Christian’. After all, it’s not exactly seen as the coolest thing to be these days. But in my experience and in my opinion, it’s something far more exciting than people think.

Adventure

Jesus said, ‘I’ve come to give life and life in all it’s fullness’ – Being a Christian is so often labelled badly and wrongly. People so often think that following Jesus is for those who are boring, geeky, old or disillusioned.
Yes it’s for all of those, but it’s also for those who want to live life at it’s best. Those who want to take risks, speak out, stand up and move forward with the times. It’s for everyone.

For me, the sense of living life to the full excites me as I am determined that there must be more than this. As I have journeyed in faith – I’ve realised that yes, there is more to life than simply eating, working & sleeping.

I believe that the very purpose of life is about relationship with God and community with each other. Life is a privalidge, not a reward. It’s not earned, but given freely.

Life with Jesus is a challenge, it sets the standard high, raises the bar and certainly doesn’t mean that all of life’s problems are washed away but it does open up possibilities, it does give hope and meaning and it’s an adventure to be taken.

But with that comes life at it’s best and with purpose. Life as it was intended to be. Life in all it’s fullness.

The world around us so often seems like a hope-less world. Nothing but negativity is communicated through the media.
It seems to get worse, multiplying the errors made and doubling the scale of the problems.

Yet I believe in a God who is bigger than it all. I believe in a God that can, and does, and has changed lives. God can soften the hardest heart, forgive the darkest crime and love the most unlovable. There is a God worth knowing.

At the heart of the Christian faith is a message of hope. Hope that we can all be changed, transformed and renewed.
Hope that one day all tears will be wiped away and we will forever be with an awesome God.

Finally, it never ceases to amaze me that the very same God who created the universe, the galaxy, the earth, the stars, the heavens, who holds every molecule together and every planet in place – THIS God value’s and appreciates his creation that is you and me.

God does not want to simply observe us living life. He wants to live life with us.
